These are various icons that I have created for my homepage at one time or another, which I believe to be fairly unique.  I would like to offer them to the world at large, since I've wasted enough of my time creating them.  They are free for any use.  Enjoy!

CoolTitle and CoolTubes are short UNIX/Linux Perl script front-ends to POV-Ray that generate cool 3D text as seen on this page. Both CoolTitle and CoolTubes are free software and distributed under the terms of the GNU General Public License (GPL).

Transparent Icons for use against gray backgrounds




* Marbles
Nice raytraced marbles.
Each is 32x32 pixels x 16 colors.



* Chicklets
Raytraced rounded buttons.
Each is 96x40 pixels x 16 colors.



Earth Mars Planets
Raytraced planets,
using NASA imagery as image-maps.



* Nameplates
These look something like the nameplates on the trunks of cars.
These icons are not raytraced.



* Light Emitting Diodes
These are raytraced LEDs, both on and off.



* Phongy Tubes
These are gaudy raytraced neon tubes.



* Floppy Diskettes
These are colorful raytraced diskettes.



Notes on use with backgrounds.  Most of these icons cast shadows which were designed to be viewed against the standard 75% Gray background of most browsers.  Good results can also be obtained against low contrast backgrounds that have an overall value close to that of the 75% Gray (as with this page).  If placed against very dark, very bright or high contrast backgrounds the shadows will be unconvincing.   Here are some backgrounds I designed to work well with these icons:
